CEBU, Philippines - A notorious drug pusher eluded arrest during a buy-bust operation Friday evening at P. Remedio Street in barangay Banilad, Mandaue City.
Ralph Oporto, 37, single, freed himself from the grasp of the poseur buyer, and made good his escape.
Casuntingan police chief P/Insp. Jimmy Fortes said Oporto handed shabu to the poseur buyer in exchange for P300.
After the exchange was made, the poseur buyer grabbed Oporto.
Oporto may have escaped but his companion, Reynante Bago, was arrested.
He was inside the makeshift house when the transaction was conducted.
Police seized shabu and some drug paraphernalia from Bago.
Bago is now detained at the Casuntingan Police station pending the filing of an illegal drug case against him.
Had Oporto been arrested, the police said it would have been his second time.
Early this year, he was arrested by the Investigation and Detective Management Bureau (IDMB) for suspicions that he was armed at the time.
The IDMB did not find a gun but instead found shabu in his possession.
Oporto got his freedom back after posting bail for his illegal drug case.
