"Killer" gave fictitious name when arrested
CEBU, Philippines - The 62-year-old man who allegedly killed a construction worker Sunday dawn gave a fictitious name to the police when arrested at his home in barangay Pulpogan, Consolacion town.
Basak police station chief P Sr./Insp Wilson Abot said the man’s real name is Abraham Ruiz Bulambao, not George Ruiz as Bulambao had claimed earlier.
Abot said the man’s real identity was discovered after the police checked his background.
The police also found out about his alleged involvement in a murder case in 2003 in Bogo City. A warrant of arrest for this case has already been obtained by the police.
“Susama ra ang insidente iyang gitigbas iyang silingan ug namatay sa way tukmang hinungdan,” Abot said.
He said additional charges would be filed for using a fabricated name.
Abot said the court in Bogo City will be informed about Bulambao’s arrest.
Construction worker Joly John Roble, 30, died was allegedly beaten to death with a branch of a guava tree in barangay Pagsabungan, Mandaue City Sunday dawn, police said.
Police said that prior to the incident, Roble, who was apparently drunk, was seen on his way home at 2 a.m. that night.
Roble temporarily resides in the area and is unmarried.
He is a native of Kanlaon, Negros Oriental and works in one of the construction firms in Mandaue City.
Police said that while Roble was walking, Bulambao, who was also allegedly drunk too, approached Roble and suddenly started beating him repeatedly with the branch, which was allegedly the size of a child’s forearm.
Dionesio Sevilla, a neighbor, said he saw Bulambao beating Roble repeatedly on the head, neck, and other parts of the body until Roble fell to the ground.
Roble’s was taken to the Mandaue City Hospital but may have died on the way.
Bulambao told the police that Roble tried to enter his house.
A liquor test showed Bulambao was drunk at the time Roble was killed. - THE FREEMAN
