Soc submits first supplemental budget
CEBU, Philippines - Talisay City Mayor Socrates Fernandez has submitted to the council the proposed first supplemental budget amounting to over P18 million.
Councilor Rodolfo “Rodi” Cabigas, chairman of the committee on appropriation, budget management and ways and means, said the biggest chunk of the first SB amounting to P18,015,100.38 will go to maintenance and other operating expenses.
The proposed SB 1 will be taken up in the next council session this Tuesday.
The maintenance and other operating expenses amounting to P6,252,313.41 covers the payments of electricity, repairs and maintenance of motor vehicles, the confidential and intelligence expenses, gas, oil and lubricants expenses, and other supplies expenses.
Cabigas said the proposed SB1 also includes the P5.6 million capital outlay, the P5.8 million non-expenditures expenses, and P357,225 total personal services.
According to Cabigas, the city has appropriated a huge amount for the installation of closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras and station amounting to P4.5 million.
The rest: P3 million for security services; financial assistance to Alay Lakad in the amount of P600,000; P232,072 for the subsidy to Talisay City College; the construction and rehabilitation of local roads and bridges and purchase of appropriate engineering equipment in the amount of P1.2 million and the P500,000 for the implementation of livelihood and local economic developing projects.
The supplemental budget of local government units are approved by the Sangguniang Bayan/Panlungsod/Panlalawigan, when there are derived savings and available resources that need to be appropriated for unfunded programs and projects in the regular budget.
