Man from Borbon town found dead
CEBU, Philippines - A man who worked for a dealer of motorcycles in barangay Banilad, Mandaue City was found dead under the Cansaga Bay Bridge in barangay Tayud, Consolacion town and barangay Paknaan, Mandaue City Friday morning.
The man, identified through the identification cards found in his wallet, was Johanes Brigoli, a native of Borbon, Cebu and resided in Purok Sampaguita, barangay Banilad, Mandaue City.
One of his identification cards showed he worked for a motorcycle dealer.
The employer told the police that Brigoli had been AWOL for about a month now.
A colleague in the company said Brigoli sometimes lost his strength but had no idea what caused it.
Brigoli was seen below the Cansaga Bridge Thursday afternoon.
Some fishermen said they saw him swimming with his pants on and later disappeared.
They then reported his disappearance to barangay tanods, who in turn started to look for him.
When the tanods couldn’t find him, they surmised he might have gone home already.
At around 6:30 a.m. yesterday, fisherman Hermie Judilla, 52, of barangay Tugbongan, Consolacion saw Brigoli floating and lifeless in the middle of barangay Tayud, Consolacion and barangay Pakna-an, Mandaue City under the Casaga Bay Bridge.
He then fastened Brigoli to his boat and towed him toward the shores of barangay Pakna-an.
Brigoli’s father, Tito, arrived at the IDMB office from Borbon, Cebu yesterday noon after learning about his son’s death.
The police turned over to him his son’s wallet which still had P1,650 in it and assorted identification cards.
The father said he didn’t know whether his son was suffering from any illness since he was healthy when he went to Borbon a few months ago.
PO3 Marvin Fegarido suggested that Brigoli be autopsied to determine the real cause of his death. The father agreed.
But initial investigation showed there was no foul play involved in the death.
