Man hacks ex-lover
CEBU, Philippines - An alleged jealous man hacked his 56-year-old former live-in partner Monday evening with a chopping knife in sitio Tayud-Tayud, barangay Cantao-an, Naga City.
The woman sustained multiple wounds on the different parts of her body.
She was rushed to the Minglanilla District Hospital.
The police arrested the man and detained him at the Naga City stockade.
Charges were filed at the Naga City Prosecutor’s Office yesterday.
The couple separated April this year due to a misunderstanding.
PO2 Cristina Recaña, Women’s and Children’s Protection Desk officer, said power was out at the time the woman was preparing her dinner at around 8:00 p.m. inside her house.
She reportedly did not notice the presence of her former lover, who was apparently under the influence of liquor, hiding behind the main door.
At this moment, the man grabbed the woman and struck her in the face and neck.
While wrestling with each other, the man again swung his knife and hit the woman on the left arm.
When she screamed, the man fled.
Recaña said both had a misunderstanding several months ago and it was just last April when the couple broke up after seven years of being together.
“Seloso man kuno ang suspect wan a pud na sila’y tinagdanay pero magkita ra sila kay mura’g silingan lang,” Recaña said in a phone interview. - THE FREEMAN
