CEBU, Philippines - Indigent residents in Lapu-Lapu City have just been given a shot in the arm. The city council, through an ordinance, has allotted P2 million for them for medical and hospital bills at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City.
Mayor Paz Radaza had endorsed the approval of the amount, which will be taken from the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (Pagcor) account.
Most of the patients brought to the Lapu-Lapu City Hospital and Sta. Rosa Community Hospital in Olango Island are transferred to the government-run hospital in Cebu City.
Councilor Alexander Gestopa, Jr., a practicing doctor, said that with the budget, patients are assured of immediate attention. (FREEMAN)
