Liloan ups barangay workers' honorarium
CEBU, Philippines - Starting this month, all barangay tanods, barangay health workers, and Bantay Dagat members in Liloan town will receive their monthly allowance from the municipal government amounting to P2,000 each.
Liloan Mayor Vincent Franco “Duke” Frasco made the announcement in yesterday’s short program at the Panphil Frasco Sports Complex.
Mayor Frasco said in 2010, all barangay tanods and barangay health workers received P500 monthly allowance.
The mayor said in 2011, he doubled the amount to P1,000 and promised to double the amount in 2012.
In yesterday’s meeting, Mayor Frasco said since he made the promise, he approved the P2,000 monthly allowance starting this month.
The members of Bantay Dagat received P1,500 monthly allowance from the municipal government and he will make it P2,000 starting this month.
During the same meeting, members of the Barangay Nutrition Scholars also reminded Mayor Frasco that he also made a promised to them to increase their allowance.
At least one Barangay Nutrition Scholars is assigned to each barangay in Liloan.
Mayor Frasco approved to double their allowance from P1,500 to P3,000.
Mayor Frasco told The Freeman that he and members of the municipal council decided to allocate funds for allowance to barangay tanods, barangay health workers, bantay dagat members, and barangay nutrition scholars.
Frasco said he was informed that barangays, due to limited budget, released P300 to P350 in honorarium to barangay tanods per month.
Barangay health workers receive P300 to P600 monthly in honorarium.
“Nakita nato nga dako kaayo ang ilang gimbuhaton sa barangay apan nagdawat lang sila ug gamay ra kaayo nga honorarium,” Frasco said.
