CEBU, Philippines - The decomposing body of a man believed to be the subject of summary execution was found inside a sack floating at the Tañon Strait in Barangay Lambog in Badian town yesterday morning.
The body was identified as that of Carmilo Caputol, 46, who used to be a residence of the barangay.
PO2 William Beltran of the Badian Police said it was Agaton Tejada, 45, a fisherman, who found the sack while he was fishing on board his motorized banca. He reportedly spotted the sack when he was about 40 meters away.
When he went closer and verified, he found out that the sack contained the body of a man. Using a nylon rope, he tugged the sack to shore and reported his find to the police.
About 11:30 a.m., the victim’s brother identified the body to be that of Caputol.
Police said the victim sustained an injury on the head that might have been caused by a hard object and that could have caused his death.
Investigation showed that Caputol’s relatives saw him last five days ago while he was drinking with friends at a sari-sari store.
As of yesterday, police were looking for his companions prior to the incident. (FREEMAN)
