Two men killed in Lapu-Lapu

CEBU, Philippines - Two people were killed Sunday evening in separate shooting incidents in Lapu-Lapu City.

Lapu-Lapu police identified the victims as Abelito Baguio, 49, of sitio Soong, barangay Mactan and Wilfredo Palomar, 26, of barangay Bankal, all in Lapu-Lapu City.

SPO1 Allan Pantalleon of the Lapu-Lapu City Police Crime Against Persons said Baguio was seated on a bench  inside a basketball court watching children play basketball at around 6 pm last Sunday when three persons on board a motorcycle arrived in the area and stopped at the entrance of the basketball court.

Two of the three men armed with short firearms approached Baguio and shot him several times.

Baguio died on the spot.

The assailants fled towards barangay Maribago.

Policemen recovered two empty shell of .45 caliber pistol at the crime scene.

In a span of two hours, a 26-year-old man was shot dead by a neighbor in front of the Bankal Elementary School in barangay Bankal, also in Lapu-Lapu City.

Wilfredo Palomar, a resident of barangay Bankal was walking in front of Bankal Elementary School when a man who later was identified as Expedito Noval appeared from behind and boxed Palomar.

Noval then shot Palomar hitting him on the right upper shoulder.

He was brought to the Mactan District Hospital but attending physician declare him dead on arrival.

Noval fled after the incident.  (FREEMAN)
