Talisay SP ignored village?
CEBU, Philippines - Barangay officials in Poblacion, Talisay City appears to have been slighted and as a consequence has requested for an explanation from the city for its failure to inform the barangay hall about a fence being put up around the Talisay City College.
In a resolution, barangay Poblacion officials, led by barangay captain Teodoro Belleza, has asked Talisay City Mayor Socrates Fernandez for details.
“The fact that the school is located in barangay Poblacion, we see no reason why the barangay should not be informed of any major activity taking place within the barangay,” the resolution states.
The resolution was jointly approved by Belleza and his councilors last June 1.
But TCC president Tomas Ramos denied that school officials have a hand in the construction of the fence.
Ramos said the fencing project around the city college was not of their own doing.
“The city government should have coordinated with the barangay regarding on the project as they were the ones who approved it in the first place,” Ramos said, adding that they only submitted their recommendations for the fencing but the final decision came from the city government.
The Talisay City Engineering Department reportedly conducted the project after the city council approved the recommendations, Ramos said.
Ramos said the ongoing fencing project was reportedly approved last year.
He also said the school always works hand in hand with the barangay in any activity or any infrastructure changes undertaken by the school.
But in this case, the city government should have coordinated with the barangay, Ramos said. – THE FREEMAN
