CEBU, Philippines - One of the six Talisay City College students who allegedly defaced posters made by hotel management students last year, has been allowed to enroll in the school following an apology from him and his mother.
Dr. Tomas Ramos, president of the TCC, yesterday told The Freeman that Antonio Delima Jr. will be accepted to enroll in third year in Industrial Technology.
Last December, six students were accused of vandalism. The school considers vandalism a serious offense and is punishable by suspension for the first offense, and expulsion for the second offense.
Last April 11, the six students went to the school to enroll, only to learn that their names were not in the list of enrollees.
Ramos said the students never went to his office after learning that their names were not in the official list of enrollees. Instead of seeking clarification, the students brought their case to the media and some politicians.
“We don’t want this to be politicized. Nganong wala man gyud ang estudyante or ginikanan ang miduol namo aron amo sila ma-istoryahan regarding sa ilang nabuhat?” Ramos said.
As of yesterday morning, Ramos said only Antonio Delima Jr. and his mother sought for reconsideration.
“This is the first time they requested in writing for reconsideration. It is only now that a parent and her son came to me,” Ramos said.
Ramos said if the other five students show interest in going back to school, they should see him.
“I will resolve the issue when the time comes. If they are interested, then they have to come over,” Ramos said.
Ramos, however, warned Delima a repeat of the offense would expulsion from the school.
He said the school will not tolerate offenses such as vandalism.
In the school’s eight-year history, it was the first time that vandalism was committed.
He said students who undergo orientation every year sign an agreement they will follow school rules and regulations. (FREEMAN)
