Guard who "shot" worker surrenders

CEBU, Philippines -  The security guard who shot to death a construction worker surrendered to his brother who is a policeman assigned at the Mandaue City Traffic Division.

Rogelio Bintad was turned over to Homicide chief P/Insp. Ramil Morpos yesterday morning by SPO2 Joel Bintad.

Rogelio, who worked as a security guard at a construction site in barangay Tipolo, allegedly shot Ryan Naingue, a construction worker Sunday morning with his service firearm after an argument.

Both Bintad and Naingue quarreled yesterday morning after the guard prevented him from entering the construction site for being allegedly under the influence of liquor.

After their argument, Naingue left the construction site but Bintad followed him, and then allegedly shot him in the head with his service firearm.

Naingue did not reach the Mandaue City Hospital alive.

Bintad is now detained at the Subangdaku police station.     - THE FREEMAN
