Woman arrested for "helping" fugitive escape taken to hospital
CEBU, Philippines - The 18-year-old woman who was arrested Friday with the mother of an inmate who escaped from his escorts last week suffered a nervous breakdown yesterday and was taken to hospital.
Basak police station chief P Sr./Insp. Wilson Abot said Jennifer Cogay was brought to the Mandaue City Hospital for continuously screaming while inside her detention cell at the Subangdaku police station.
Abot said he will wait for a medical evaluation before the police will file a case against her and her aunt for allegedly helping Ricky Andujar, a fugitive from the law, escape from the police.
“Murag mentally disturbed na sya kay wa siya magpalandong nga mapriso diay kong magtago ug pinangita sa balaud apan huwaton sa nato ang evaluation apan para nako ang iyang kahimtang ron dili na excuse sa iyang criminal liability,” Abot said.
Police decided to bring her to the hospital because she did not calm down despite being comforted by her parents.
Both Cogay and her aunt Siberina Andujar were arrested last Friday evening while allegedly aiding Andujar escape. - THE FREEMAN
