DepEd's "mother tongue directive to start in June
CEBU, Philippines - Teachers who handle classes from kindergarten to grade 3 in all public schools in Mandaue City will undergo a one-week seminar workshop starting Monday.
The seminar workshop will focus on the implementation of the Mother Tongue-based multi lingual education (MTB-MLE).
Benjamin Tiongzon, DepEd Mandaue City Division director, said the MTB-MLE will be implemented this June.
DepEd said the Cebuano language will be used as the medium of instruction in teaching mathematics, science, physical education, and other minor subjects.
Most transferees in the city speak Waray and Ilonggo and other Bisayan languages but DepEd said the Cebuano language will be used, being spoken by the majority. (FREEMAN)
