CEBU, Philippines - Two men on a motorcycle were arrested Thursday at Hernan Cortes Street in barangay Banilad, Mandaue City for possession of illegal drugs.
When information about armed men on a motorcycle reached the police station in barangay Subangdaku, OIC station chief P/Insp. Ramil Morpos and his men immediately went to the area but found no armed men there.
The policemen proceeded to adjacent barangay Banilad where they found the men they were looking for.
Along P. Remedio Street, they signaled for the two men to stop.
As the man behind the driver got off the motorcycle, he threw something to the side but was seen by one of the policemen who retrieved it and found it to be a pack containing alleged shabu. The police arrested Ralph Oporto.
Oporto’s companion, Romeo Coca, 20, single, of sitio Greenhills, barangay Casuntingan, Mandaue City was frisked and yielded a small amount of alleged shabu. He also failed to show a driver’s license.
No gun was found.
The shabu weighed 1.8 grams and was worth P20,000 in the streets.
Morpos said residents in Banilad say Oporto sell illegal drugs.
Coca and Oporto are now detained at the Subangdaku police station pending the filing of charges against them. (FREEMAN)
