Woman arrested for 'stealing' clothes

CEBU, Philippines - A woman, notorious for breaking into houses in Mandaue City, was arrested by the police in Zone Okra in barangay Paknaan, Mandaue City Monday morning.

Neighbors saw Fe Babanto, 52, married, of barangay Cansojong in Talisay City enter the house Jose Megio, 38, married, by breaking the front door’s padlock. Megio was out of the house at the time.

She had taken from the house 23 blouses and 8 pairs of pants.

Neighbors called the police and she was arrested while waiting for a jeepney ride.

The police recovered the clothes and found shabu in her wallet.

Abot said the arrest was the third one for Babanto.

“Nag-inusara ra ni siya ug mokalit lang og sud og balay inig makita niya nga nilakaw ang tag-iya. Di magpanagana kay sa front door dyud moagi,” Abot said.

 A case of theft and violation of R.A. 9165 is now being prepared against her. She is now detained at the Opao police station, the only police station in the city that has a separate detention cell for women. – (FREEMAN)
