Gas stations should be far from one another

CEBU, Philippines - A Mandaue City councilor gets goose bumps by just looking at gas stations very near one another.

Mandaue City Councilor Demetrio “Jun” Cortes has proposed an ordinance which prescribes a 200-meter distance between two stations as a safety measure.

“Gituyo nako ning maong ordinansahon kay bisan asa na lang dire sa Mandaue naay mga gasoline stations nga halos nagtapad na murag mga mushrooms, and this poses risk. Di nya ta katag-an naay gasoline pump madasmagan mosiga di hurot silang tanan,” Cortes said.

His proposal also covers “bulilit” stations as well as refilling stations.

His proposal was approved on first reading. – (FREEMAN)
