1 killed, 6 hurt in road mishaps in Mandaue

CEBU, Philippines - A 63-year-old man died Tuesday while six others were injured yesterday in road accidents in Mandaue City.

A 63-year-old man, while crossing Plaridel Street in barangay Umapad, Mandaue City Tuesday morning, died on the spot after getting hit and ran over by a Mitsubushi tanker.

Rodrigo Ygot of sitio Liong in barangay Alang-alang, Mandaue City was taken to the Mandaue City Hospital.

The alleged erring driver was identified as Anastacio Aberra, 29, of Greenfield Subdivision in barangay Inayawan, Cebu City.

Yesterday morning, six persons were injured in a traffic accident that involved a bicycle, a van, a motorcycle, and a car along the M. C. Briones national highway in barangay Basak, Mandaue City.

Injured were Alejandro Culintaba of Lower Tabok,Mandaue City.

 Albert Repollo and wife Gamabel of Purok 6 barangay Nangka, Consolacion town, Jason Fajardo of barangay Cubacub, Mandaue City, and Jessi Jake Asibuque of Floremer Subdivision in barangay Banilad, Mandaue City.

They were taken to the Mandaue City Hospital.

The Traffic Division of the Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO) said the Suzuki mini-van driven by Asibuque was traveling towards Hermag Village in barangay Basak when it hit a bicycle driven by Culintaba while overtaking another vehicle.

The mini-van also hit a motorcycle driven by Repollo, which hit the rear of a Toyota Corolla driven by Fajardo.

Asibuque was later detained at the Basak police station pending the filing of a case against him.
