Talisay launches first student leaders' congress

CEBU, Philippines - At least 100 youth leaders are expected to gather today for Talisay City’s first Student Leaders’ Congress at the Girls Scout Camp in Capitol Site, Lahug, Cebu Cty.

The event, which carries the theme “I am a Leader, I make Things Happen,” is organized by the city government in cooperation with the Department of Education, Division Federation of Supreme Student Government, Talisay City Youth Development Commission, and Talisay Junior Drugwatch.

Participants would come from private and public schools from Talisay City.

The event is aimed at “empowering student leaders who occupy key positions in the Supreme Student Government (SSG) in their respective schools,” said city administrator Richel Bacaltos.

Talisay City’s Mayor Socrates Fernandez, Vice-Mayor Alan Bucao, and Councilor Dennis Basillote will also attend the event.

Other invited guests include Talisay DepEd Superintendent Mr. Woodrow Denuyo, National Youth Commissioner representing Visayas Erwin Andaya, and Talisay City Sports Commissioner Gerald Anthony “Samsam” Gullas.  (FREEMAN)
