- Flor Z. Perolina -

CEBU, Philippines - In preparation for implementation of the K+12 program of the Department of Education, the Mandaue City government is doubling efforts to construct more classrooms for public schools in anticipation of the opening of classes this June.

Student population in public schools is expected to rise now that private schools nationwide have just been allowed to raise tuition.

Mayor Jonas Cortes said at least P50 million has been set aside for the construction of schools in the different barangays in the city this year.

He said the newly built P3-million building of the Mandaue City Central School and the P11-million school building in barangay Tingub built through the partnership of the Aboitiz Foundation, are ready for occupancy.

Cortes said more classrooms are being built in barangays Banilad and Maguikay.

Through a Private-Public Partnership program has been helping the city built some of the public school buildings in the city. (THE FREEMAN)
