Case filed against man who jumped off bridge junked

CEBU, Philippines - The Lapu-Lapu City Prosecutor’s Office dismissed the case that was filed against the man who jumped two weeks ago from the Mandaue-Mactan Bridge and fell on a man who later died in hospital.

Aniano Berdin, 30, was ordered released from the Lapu-Lapu City jail in barangay Soong, Lapu-Lapu City after the city fiscal’s office ruled there was no sufficient evidence to prosecute him.

The summary resolution was already by the victim’s wife Theresa Sison yesterday and expressed dismay over the result of the homicide case.

Sison said they are still grieving over the death of her husband Danilo Sison, a former OFW.

She said family members and relatives will later decide whether it would be wise to file the case again, convinced that Berdin is not insane.

At around 8 p.m. last April 11, Berdin jumped off the old Mandaue-Mactan Bridge to have a swim and landed on Sison who was spear-fishing then. - THE FREEMAN
