Former Talisay councilor, 75, wishes to run again in 2013
CEBU, Philippines - A 75-year-old former Talisay City councilor has expressed his interest to run in the 2013 elections, that is, if his political party would take him in.
Ronnie Capala, who served as city councilor in 2007-2010, told The FREEMAN that he would give it another try “for the last time.”
Capala was supported by the Alayon Party of first district Rep. Eduardo Gullas in his bid to get re-elected in May 2010, but failed to get the seat.
He was however appointed as a city consultant on slaughter affairs.
“Andam man ko kung ingnon ko nila nga modagan,” said Capala, while adding that he could do better this time, unlike in 2010 when his party-mates ditched one another in the last minute of the campaign.
Capala was a long-time barangay chief of Cansojong before he ran for city councilor in 2007, and won.
At 75, Capala said he would not want to come back to the barangay, as the work there is more rigorous, which his age would no longer permit.
With two of the Alayon councilors now serving their last terms, and one being an outcast last year, the party is said to welcome three of its former councilors.
A political analyst said former councilor Arturo Bas, who is currently city hall spokesperson, will be among the three.
There is no confirmation yet if former Councilor Ben Abatayo, who also serves as the city’s consultant on traffic, and Capala, would complete the remaining two. (FREEMAN)
