Robber armed with toy grenade flees with P15k

CEBU, Philippines - Armed with a toy hand grenade, an unidentified man fled with P15,000 after robbing an eatery in barangay Lipata, Minglanilla town.

PO1 Noel Mamale of the Minglanilla Police Station said the robbery took place at around 4 a.m. yesterday at Ant Lilly Eatery.

Mamale said Mark Anthony Basillo, 59, owner of the eatery, went out of the restaurant to dispose of the garbage.

When he returned, he saw a male stranger collecting the cash from his drawer.

Basillo tried to stop the man but stopped on his tracks when the robber whipped out a grenade.

Before fleeing with the money, the robber lobbed the grenade toward Basillo.

Basillo ran out of the eatery and waited for the grenade to explode.

But it did not. He went inside to investigate and found the grenade.
