Firm offers Consolacion waste collection services

- Jose P. Sollano -

CEBU, Philippines - The Consolacion municipal council committee on laws will study the proposal advanced by a private company that seeks to help the town in garbage collection.

The committee on laws, chaired by Councilor Nicole Alectis Villo-Escobido, will study the offer submitted by FDRCon Company Inc.

The company wants the municipal government of Consolacion to recognize FDRcon Company, Inc. as the sole service provider of Solid Waste Collection and Disposal System.

The company will also purchase all Solid Waste Collection vehicles compromising the municipality’s garbage collection and disposal system and allow the company to collect solid waste within the town and should be delivered to a central material recovery facility, which the company itself will put up.

It also asked the municipal government to allow the company to collect reasonable tipping or gate fees as well as garbage collection and disposal service fees for every ton of solid waste delivered by the municipality to the facility.

Barangay officials of Consolacion visited the company plant in Naga City.

The committee on health, sanitation and environment has concluded that the project will not harm the environment, as observed in the company’s Naga plant where garbage is segregated, recyclable materials turned into biodegradable waste, shredding of plastic, and processing biodegradable waste into fertilizer.

Presently, the town has an existing agreement with Asean EnergySystems Corporation, which operates a private sanitary landfill in barangay Polog in the town. (FREEMAN)
