Cops take taxi to chase thief

- Flor Z. Perolina -

CEBU, Philippines - With no service vehicle at their disposal, two policemen took a taxi to chase and arrest a robber last Friday.

PO1 Eric Fronda and PO1 Ace Ryan Becaldo, who were assigned at the public assistance center in front of the Santo Niño de Cebu-Mactan Church, flagged down a taxi after a PUJ driver sought their help.

Based on the police report, Eduardo Bequilla, of legal age, married, was driving a passenger multicab when a man boarded his vehicle.

While travelling towards Sitio Buyong in barangay Maribago, the man suddenly threatened to stab the driver on the nape with a pair scissors while at the same time demanding for his money.

But Bequilla foiled the robbery by outsmarting the robber who then jumped off the multicab and boarded another multicab.

Without wasting time, Bequilla sought the help of two policemen, who then took a taxi to chase the would-be robber.

It took only a few minutes for the two policemen to arrest Christopher Hermosilla, 31, single, of barangay Cambaro, Mandaue City.

They recovered the pair of scissors from Hermosilla.

A highway robbery case will be filed against him on Tuesday.  (FREEMAN)
