Store robbed of expensive sandals

CEBU, Philippines - A store in barangay Bakilid, Mandaue City was robbed of nearly a hundred thousand pesos worth of Crocs sandals Saturday morning.

Francis Benedict Cutingco, the store’s representative, sought police assistance after finding the store’s roll-up shutter’s padlock broken and many sandals bearing the popular Crocs brand inside the store missing.

Police said at around 6:17 a.m. yesterday morning, security guard Godwin Enolpe, 51, of Archangel Investigative and Security Agency, discovered the padlock of the roll-up shutter smashed.

Enolpe immediately called a staff of the store.

Listed missing after an inventory was made were 110 pairs of sandals.

Enolpe alleged he was on guard starting the night before the discovery of the incident.

He said he did not hear any commotion inside the store nor did he see nobody in the premises.

He denied he was asleep at the time.

 The Investigation and Detective Management Branch (IDMB) led by P/Insp Ramil Morpos requested personnel from SOCO 7 to check the crime scene for latent prints.

Enolpe will be investigated for negligence and possible involvement in the burglary.

In another development, Gemma Estrada, married, of legal age, lost cash and a ring while spending time at a beach resort in barangay Mactan, Lapu-Lapu City with her family and some friends.

The Theft and Robbery Section of the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office said the woman and her companions discovered that her P20,000 and a diamond ring worth P65,000 were gone when they woke up yesterday. (FREEMAN)
