Four men arrested for blast fishing
CEBU, Philippines - Four fishermen were arrested early yesterday morning for blast fishing in the waters surrounding Caubian Island in Lapu-Lapu City.
Barangay Caubian captain Romeo Masbagon accompanied by two fish wardens ordered the arrest of the cousins of his cousin David Lumapas.
Arrested were Rodelio Alcoser, Diego Siton, and Rolando Inoc, all Caubian residents.
Masbagon said he saw the fishermen use dynamites and heard seven consecutive explosions at around 5:40 a.m. yesterday.
The fish wardens took custody of all the fishermen’s four motorized bancas loaded with Mobgas fish.
The boats were then turned over to Task Force Kalikasan and later taken to the City Fisheries and Aquatic Resources office. (FREEMAN)
