Burglar ID'd, arrested, stolen items recovered
CEBU, Philippines - Police arrested Wednesday a man hours after breaking into a room and stealing phones and jewelry in barangay Tanke, Talisay.
Cyrus Cardente, 28, a resident of Tanke, is now detained at the Talisay City Police Station pending the filing of criminal charges against him.
The victim, Jessie Gil Ababon, of barangay Tabunok, and a witness told police about the robbery and accused Cardente of forcibly opening the door to his room and stealing a gold necklace with a cross pendant valued at P24,000, a Nokia 2730 classic phone worth P4,500, another Nokia phone worth P6,000, and a silver necklace that costs P1,000.
Insp. Hugo Rio Ipong, PO2 Roy Lofranco, and PO1 Euwen Pitogo arrested Cardente while at his home at 9:00 p.m. on the same day the burglary was committed.
Recovered from Cardente were a receipt issued by a pawnshop for a gold necklace he pawned for P14,000 but the police found only P10,000 in his possession.
Two mobile phones and the silver necklace were recovered. (FREEMAN)
