Compostela already attracting investors

CEBU, Philippines - Two weeks after he assumed office, Compostela Mayor Joel Quiño has started to win the confidence of the business sector, with some businessmen already having indicated their intention to invest in the town.

In a talk with The FREEMAN, Mayor Quiño said some businessmen have inquired about availability of lots where they can start a business.

Quiño said the businessmen were specific: they will need at least five hectares.

“Nalipay kita kaayo kay duna naman mga negosyante nga mipakita sa ilang kadasig sa pagbubo og puhunan sa atong lungsod ug kini nindot nga timailhan nga may pagsalig sila sa iyang liderato,” Quiño said.

Quiño said the remaining year of his term would be too short to address all the problems that beset the town but with the support of the people, he is confident programs that will benefit the people can be put in motion.

“Uhaw gayud kaayo ang katawhan sa Compostela sa batakan nga serbisyo mao nga double time kita karon uban sa atong mga opisyal,” Quiño said.

He again appealed to the people to set aside politics and unite for the good of the town.

Quiño and Vice Mayor Antonette Dangoy and members of the municipal council assumed office last week, after the Commission on Elections finally resolved the election protest filed by former mayor Ritchie Wagas. - THE FREEMAN
