2 attempt suicide

CEBU, Philippines - Jealousy drove two men to commit suicide in two different places in Mandaue and Lapu-Lapu cities.

However, the suicide attempts were both prevented.

Police said Jestoni Inoc, 22, who lives in barangay Mantuyong, Mandaue City but a native of barangay Gairan in Bogo City and had quarreled with his live-in partner at around 10 p.m. last Monday in their rented room over suspicions the woman was having an affair with another man.

At the height of their quarrel, the woman left their home.

Just then she received a text message from him threatening to commit suicide if she didn’t come back.

The woman rushed back knowing Inoc had attempted to commit suicide last year.

When she arrived home she saw Inoc with a straw rope around his neck with the other end tied to a beam.

Neighbors helped bring him down and take him to hospital in Cebu City.

In Lapu-Lapu City, a 21-year-old man who resides in barangay Gun-ob, was taken to the Lapu-Lapu City Hospital after attempting to kill himself by hanging.

Police said the man and his wife had previously quarreled.

The man’s mother peeped into his room when he failed to get out for lunch.

She sought help when she saw her son hanging by the neck.

He was quickly taken to a hospital in Cebu City. - THE FREEMAN
