PUJ barker hangs himself

CEBU, Philippines -   A 29-year-old jeepney barker hanged himself last Friday evening inside his home in barangay Canjulao, Lapu-Lapu City.

 Rolito Degamo was found hanging lifeless by his live-in partner Maricel Malinao at around 8:30 p.m.

 Neighbors brought down Degamo by cutting the rope tied around his neck.

 Malinao said it was the fourth time Degamo tried to end his life.

 Malinao said Degamo still visited his former live-in

partner despite the breakup because they have seven children, which live with her.

 Malinao said Degamo’s visits to his former live-in partner caused them to quarrel and oftentimes Degamo would attempt to kill himself.

 Maricel said she remembers the first time he attempted suicide.

 She said Degamo jumped into an artesian well but neighbors got him out of it.

 She said he also cut his wrist once, aside from attempts to hang himself.

 Police found no suicide note or any indication of foul play.

Maricel is certain he killed himself due to jealousy.   - (THE FREEMAN)
