Man who killed wife faces charges
CEBU, Philippines - Charges of parricide, obstruction of justice, and illegal possession of firearms were filed yesterday against a man who killed his wife at the height of an argument Sunday dawn, Investigative and Detective Management Bureau chief P C/Insp. Michael Anthony Bastes said.
Verando “Jun” Bihag, 39, of barangay Casili, Mandaue City, who owns a lumber yard in barangay Casili said the death of his wife was accidental alleging that he only lost his cool when he and his wife argued last Sunday dawn.
Police found out there was a delay in reporting the crime.
The incident allegedly took place at 2 a.m. and was reported at 10 a.m. last Sunday.
Bihag earlier wanted to cover up the death of his wife by telling the police that she committed suicide but police found out inconsistencies in his statement.
He later admitted killing her.
Homicide chief P/insp. Ramil Morpos said it was unlikely for the woman to commit suicide because the bullet hit her nape.
Had she committed suicide, she would have pointed the gun to her temple or toward her. - THE FREEMAN
