Talisay fire station marks fire prevention month
CEBU, Philippines - Every time March comes, the Talisay City Fire Station parades its trucks to join the whole nation in the celebration of Fire Prevention Month.
Today, Vondrad Fernando Dobluis, officer-in-charge of the TCFS, said men from the station will hear Mass at 8:30 a.m. at the apparatus floor on the ground level area of the Talisay City Hall.
The Mass will be followed by a short program. Afterwards, the simultaneous blowing of sirens will precede the motorcade.
The city may not be a fire-prone area, but TCFS will disseminate information regarding the prevention of fire.
Records show that in the past year, electrical-related problems were the main cause of fire.
This year, the city has recorded two fires, the first one broke out on New Year’s Day.
The fire, which razed two houses and partially damaged two more, took place in Sitio Puwa, barangay San Isidro.
Damage to property was placed at more or less P75,000.
The second fire broke out in sitio Kabayoan, San Roque last February 2, which affected at least 10 residential houses. Estimated damage to property was placed at P300,000. (FREEMAN)
