CEBU, Philippines - Former Mandaue City mayor now provincial board member Thadeo Ouano and daughter city Councilor Emmarie “Lolypop” Ouano-Dizon yesterday announced they will seek re-election in the 2013 elections.
Ouano-Dizon in an interview with The Freeman yesterday said her grandfather former Mayor Alfredo “Pedong” Ouano and she met with Mayor Jonas Cortes to talk about their plans in the coming elections and to end all speculations her father PB member Ouano will run for mayor while she will vie for the vice mayoral post.
Ouano-Dizon yesterday said she also asked Cortes if he would include her in his slate.
Ouano-Dizon said that she is glad with the mayor’s reply for saying that all of those who are currently sitting in the city council will compose his slate in next year’s elections.
Both Ouano-Dizon and city councilor Editha Cabahug ran under the slate of mayoral candidate Nerissa-Soon Ruiz under the Nacionalista Party in the 2010 national elections. Ruiz lost the mayoral slate to re-electionist Mayor Cortes.
After winning, Cabahug and Ouano immediately joined the Cortes administration.
Ouano-Dizon also said that since her father Thadeo will seek re-election for another term under the “One Cebu Party,” they were told by the mayor that it poses no problem since his slate can accommodate him as a “guest candidate.”
“Kay lain man gud paminawon nga kami naas partido sa mayor unya si papa lain sad ug partido. Kay daan pa man gud sa una nga kon kinsa’y suportahan ni Gwen mao sa’y kang papa,” Ouano-Dizon said.
Cortes used to be under the Lakas Party but the party then failed to follow the equity of the incumbent and instead chose former sixth district Rep. Soon-Ruiz over Cortes for the mayoral slate in the city.
This prompted Cortes to decided to run as an independent candidate.
A few months before the elections, he decided to join the Liberal Party.
Ouano-Dizon also said her grandfather also asked the mayor who he will support for Congress but got no reply from him. (FREEMAN)
