Fire department accelerates drive against illegal tapping

- Jose P. Sollano -

CEBU, Philippines - The Lapu-Lapu City Fire Department will go after households that have “flying connections,” or those who have illegal power supply connections which usually triggers fires, city fire officials said.

City Fire Department Chief, Fire Supt Victor R. Vibares said they will start inspecting households this week.

The city fire department of Lapu-Lapu has also lined up different activities as part of the celebration of fire prevention month.

“Maghiusa magpakabana makigtambayayong aron malikay ta sa sunog” is the theme of this year’s celebration.

Vibares said they will start their inspections at urban poor areas where fires often break out.

Lectures on ways to prevent fires will also be conducted in the different barangays, including Olango Island.

The fire department will also coordinate with officials of the Mactan Electric Company, the power distributor in Lapu-Lapu City. - THE FREEMAN
