Mandaue traffic body to take over towing firm
CEBU, Philippines - In preparation for the formal take over of the Traffic Enforcement Agency of Mandaue (Team) of Jadewell Parking System Corp., some of its personnel are now undergo training.
Mandaue City Administrator James Abadia said the city government will assign personnel from TEAM to enforce the city towing ordinance, but before anything, the personnel should undergo training first.
He said the city government also purchased a towing truck last year and has been delivered to the city.
The city government informed the management of Jadewell Parking System Corp. that the city will rescind its contract with it.
Jadewell Parking System Corporation reportedly violated some conditions of the agreement signed between the city government and the management.
Aside from its failure to pay the required 10 percent share of the city government, city officials also received complaints from motorists.
A taxi operator complained that one of his taxicabs was towed for illegal parking along the road in barangay Ibabao-Estancia close to the impounding area while the driver was sleeping in the cab.
Officials described the act as unethical. The personnel should have been awakened the driver first, they said. (FREEMAN)
