CEBU, Philippines - A six-year-old boy died instantly after being ran over Thursday afternoon by a multicab in barangay Opao, Mandaue City.
Jundren Batoon, of Tuburan town but residing in sitio Waling-waling in barangay Opao, was walking along a gutter when he lost his footing and fell to the ground.
While Batoon was lying on the roadside, a multicab ran over him.
The multicab, with plate number JDE927, owned by Sandeva Water Refilling, was driven by Randy Elbura, 26, married, also of barangay Opao.
Opao Police chief P/Insp. Stephen Amamag-id said the driver failed to notice the boy because he was at the time trying to avoid hitting another vehicle at the opposite lane.
“Gamay ra man gud ang dan anang dapita. Iyang atensyon naa’s pikas sakyanan unya wa siya makabantay sa bata nga na-outbalance ug naa na’s karsada,” Amamag-id said.
When he heard a noise, Elbura stopped his vehicle to check.
He then saw the boy bloodied and immediately took him to the Cortes hospital. The boy was declared dead on arrival. (FREEMAN)
