Lapu-Lapu to donate P1M to quake victims

CEBU, Philippines - The Lapu-Lapu City Government will donate P1 million to the provincial government of Negros Oriental for earthquake victims.

Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Paz Radaza in yesterday’s press conference said the financial assistance will be released through the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Negros Oriental.

Last month, the city government also turned over a check for P5 million to the regional office of the Department of Social Welfare and Development as donation to the victims of typhoon Sendong in Cagayan De Oro City.

Radaza, Vice Mayor Marcial Ycong, city councilors, and department heads handed the financial assistance to Cagayan De Oro City officials.

DSWD Regional Director Araceli Solamello received the financial assistance in behalf of the city government of Cagayan.

The turnover was also witnessed by Congressman Rufus Rodriquez and city officials.

Lapu-Lapu also sent P500,000 to Iligan City for typhoon victims. - THE FREEMAN
