CEBU, Philippines - The Mandaue City government yesterday turned over to the Department of Education in the city a building that will house the agency's administrative office.
The concrete building, which stands near the Mandaue City Central School, was built in 2000 yet, and will now serve as the new administrative office of DepEd officials in the city.
DepEd's old office is past its best.
Mayor Jonas Cortes turned over the building to Mandaue City DepEd division officials.
Also present during the turnover were Vice Mayor Glenn Bercede, members of the city council, and DepEd-7 director Dr. Recaredo Borgonia.
DepEd-Mandaue administrative officer Benjamin Tiongzon said the old building will be converted into a park bay.
In another development, the Aboitiz Foundation turned over yesterday afternoon 12 computer sets and 1,000 armchairs to four public schools in Mandaue City.
Aboitiz Foundation Trustee Romy Ronquillo and managing trustee Sonny Carpio turned over the computers and armchairs to DepEd Division Supt. Virginia Zapanta and principals of the schools. Also present during the turnover was barangay Canduman captain Leo Jabas.
