Consolacion asks P1M for road repair

- Jose P. Sollano -

CEBU, Philippines - The Municipal Council of Consolacion has passed a resolution requesting for a P1-million financial assistance from Senator Aquilino Pimentel III to rehabilitate and/or construct roads in the town.

The resolution, penned by Councilor Nilo Ferraren, chairman of the Council’s committee on infrastructure, got the support of the rest of the councilors.

Ferraren said most of barangays in Consolacion are mountain barangays and most of the roads there are reportedly in bad condition, often unsafe for commuters and pedestrians especially during the rainy season.

Ferraren said about 110,000 residents in the town are working in nearby cities Mandaue and Cebu City and providing them with passable and convenient roads will be a great help.

Fixing the roads in the town is also necessary, he said, especially that more and more businesses are getting established in Consolacion. Having convenient, passable and wider roads can attract more investors for both small and big businesses, Ferraren said.

As a first class municipality, the town is now considered the gateway to the north of Cebu Province.

Support from Pimentel can defray the expenses need to rehabilitate existing roads or construct additional more, the Council believes.

This Council believes further that Pimentel has the “heart, mind and soul to heed and lead this advocacy and plight for the development of every municipality by promoting passable and convenient roads as one of the signs of a progressive town,” the resolution reads.
