Police in Mandaue question two scavengers

- Flor Z. Perolina -

CEBU, Philippines - The police yesterday invited for questioning two of the three scavengers who found last Jan. 12 pieces of jewelry at the dumpsite in barangay Umapad in Mandaue City.

IDMB chief P C/Insp. Michael Anthony Bastes in an interview yesterday said only two of the three scavengers were invited to his office because Edah Montecalvo, who earlier had sold a bracelet and a RADO watch for P15,000, can no longer be found.

Bastes said one of the scavengers regretted having pawned a piece of jewelry for P127,000 instead of returning it to the owner.

The other scavenger returned a big diamond-studded bracelet.

The police can’t file a case against the scavengers for finding pieces of jewelry. - THE FREEMAN
