Ex-convict involved in drugs shot dead

- Ria Mae Y. Booc -

CEBU, Philippines - A 32-year-old man was shot dead Wednesday morning while asleep in his home in sitio Bankal, barangay Ibabao, Cordova town for allegedly failing to remit money made from the sale of illegal drugs.

Jesus Dungog was reportedly sleeping when one of three unidentified armed men entered his house and shot him once in the head.

Cordova police investigator SPO1 Henry Amores has theorized Dungog’s involvement in illegal drugs could have triggered the killing.

Amores said the police scoured the area for evidence, with no luck.

Neighbors however saw three men fleeing on foot towards a grassy area.

“Even ang igsuon pag-una ni-deny nga involved ug drugs ang biktima pero sa tanto namong pangutana nitug-an pero wa sad siya kaila kung kang kinsa,” Amores said.

Amores has presumed a lot of money could have been involved.

He said Dungog pushed drugs in the streets in barangay Ibabao and was being watched by the police before his death. He served time for a criminal offense and was released after completing his sentence.

Amores said the police have identities of drug personalities especially in Cebu City where shabu allegedly come from but are just waiting for the right time to arrest them.

“Sa amo gamay na man ning mga pushers ngari but sources nila gikan gyud sa Cebu City,” he said.  (FREEMAN)
