Taxi driver, student robbed

CEBU, Philippines - A taxi driver and a college student were robbed Monday in separate incidents in Mandaue City.

Taxi driver Albert Embalsado, 39, married, residing in Buena Hills barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City, sought police assistance after being robbed by two unidentified men in Cansaga bridge barangay Pakna-an, Mandaue City.

Embalsado told police that around 1:00 a.m. last Monday two men flagged him down in barangay Maguikay, Mandaue City, and told to be taken to Tayud, Consolacion town.

Upon reaching Cansaga bridge, one of the men pointed a gun to his head and announced a hold-up, and then took his day’s earnings of P1,000.

The two men told him to continue driving towards Consolacion.

When they reached Marian Village in barangay Tayud, Embalsado opened his car’s door and ran away.

He found two barangay tanods and asked for help.

The robbers commandeered his taxi but was later found in Laray, Consolacion, already abandoned.

Consolacion police turned over the case to the Mandaue Police Station 3 which tried to find the robbers, with no luck.

Rhea Satinitigan, 22, single, residing in sitio Telecom was going home on foot when two unidentified men on a black Mio motorcycle stopped by her side and robbed her at gunpoint, taking her wallet containing P500, an ATM card, and school identification card.

She said the robbers sped off towards barangay Cabancalan. - THE FREEMAN
