Priority budget for meds, equipment

CEBU, Philippines - The Lapu-Lapu City Government will prioritize a budget to purchase medicines and medical equipment for the barangay health center in Olango Island and its neighboring islets.

Lapu-Lapu City Councilor Alexander Gestopa, Jr. said they learned about the need for medicines and medical equipment in these areas but it was already too late for the city to allocate funds last year.

Gestopa said it is necessary for these areas to have medicines and medical equipment on standby so that barangay health workers can give immediate attention in emergency cases while waiting for a patient to be transported to the hospital.

Gestopa said he already informed Mayor Paz Radaza about the problem.
