CEBU, Philippines - Consolacion and Compostela towns, after getting inundated by relentless rains last week, are contemplating asking for help from the provincial government.
Joven Amor of Barangay Cogon, Compostela, who is also the president of the Association of Barangay Councils (ABC), told The FREEMAN the town needs immediate attention and hopes the provincial government can extend help.
“Grabe na gayud kaayo ang atong problema karon,” he said.
In Consolacion, farmers whose agricultural produce have been affected by the rains and flooding last year, went to Mayor Teresa Alegado to seek help.
Mayor Alegado said the municipal council has declared 11 out of 21 barangays in the town, under state of calamity so as to give the mayor the power to use the calamity fund for projects and assistance to flood victims.
The town initially had released P2.4 million for infrastructure and assistance to flood victims. (FREEMAN)
