Talisay police ban drinking in public places late at night

-

CEBU, Philippines - While “Oplan Sita” is in effect, people found drinking in public places or along the road late in the evening by the Talisay City police will be sent home.

Supt. Eddie Recamara, chief of the Talisay City Police Station, said this program is another way to discourage the commission of crimes, and mentioned sitio Dawis, barangay Tabunok, and the villages of Dumlong and San Isidro as among the crime-prone areas under his jurisdiction.

On top of this, the police have put up checkpoints.

He said 30 unlicensed motorcycles, some without plate numbers, had been seized at checkpoints.

Many crimes committed in the city, as per record of the police, were carried out by men on motorcycles.

For their efforts, the city government recently commended the police, its deputized group, the Talisay City Intelligence Bureau (TCIB), and some barangay tanods.

The city gave recognition to Recamara, Inspector Ricardo Echavez, Inspector Hugo Rio Ipong, SPO4 Danile Tarucan, SPO2 Edgar Causon, SPO2 Oliver Dacua, SPO1 Isaias Cabuenas, PO3 Arnold Damasco, PO3 Juanito Macabenta PO2 Ferdinand Pablo, PO1 Jude Enemesio, PO1 Euwen Pitogo, PO1 Dennis Onasin, and PO1 Antonio Asoy.

Barangay tanods Arturo Daan and Edgar Villarin, both from Tanke; Ronaldo Bas and Jerry Sigue of barangay Lawaan; Arnold Lastimosa of San Isidro; Gerardo Mendevel and Ronelo Yusores of San Roque; Floriano Abellana and Terencio Abendan of Candulawan; Ricardo Omana and Abundio Torres and Lawaan III and 39 TCIB members also received the same recognition.

The recognition ceremony was held last December 21 at the Talisay City Sports Complex in barangay Poblacion where the police held their Christmas party.  (FREEMAN)
