Police arrest man, 70, for alleged child abuse

-

CEBU, Philippines -  A 70-year-old man is being detained at the Talisay City police station detention cell for the alleged rape of a 13-year-old girl who lives in one of the villages in Talisay City.

The Talisay City Police Station has already charged the man for alleged violation of Republic Act 7610 or the Anti Child Abuse Act.

Based on the investigation conducted by PO2 Violeta Godines of the city’s Women and Children’s Protection Desk, the girl was the

man’s regular customer of his “puto,” or rice cake.

According to the girl, she was on her way to buy something at a nearby store when she saw the man riding in a car.

The girl said the man invited her to ride with him as she went to a store, and promised to give her a Christmas gift if she did.

The girl said that when she stepped into the car, the man immediately closed the door and sped off.

Instead of going to a mall in Tabunok as promised, the girl claimed she was taken to a place where she was abused.

She alleged the man later got off from the car to relieve himself, and when he came back, he sat beside her in the backseat.

The girl said the man took off his t-shirt, and ordered her to pull down her short pants.

The girl said she sensed danger and told the old man that she wanted to pee, but the man refused her request.

She told the police she stopped talking because the man started to look mean with his stares.

With the doors locked, the child said the man started removing her pants and underwear, and inserted a finger into her private part.

A security guard in the area noticed the car where the man and the girl were, approached it, and saw the girl wearing no underwear.

The man quickly moved to the driver’s seat when he saw the guard.

The child and her mother went to the police to file a complaint. – (FREEMAN)
