CEBU, Philippines - A successful businessman in Mandaue City yesterday urged barangay officials in Metro Cebu to put up an Employment and Service Office in all barangays so that jobseekers can easily find employment.
Glenn Anthony Soco, founder and president of Global Power Skills Development Center, Inc., said that based on his observations, a number of business establishments and big companies are always looking for workers but the problem is often the lack of manpower.
He said the Barangay Employment and Service Office is tasked to coordinate with business and industrial establishments here and abroad for possible job openings.
Aside from facilitating employment, Soco said it also assists applicants how to prepare an application letter, bio-data, and what to do and expect in an interview.
He said a number of job applicants, especially those coming from barangays, are often unprepared.
“Daghan man gud sa atong mga kaigsoonan nga dili gani mahibawo unsa nga trabaho ang ilang gusto applayan, kon pangutan-on moingon lang nga bisan unsa,” Soco said.
He said he put up Global Power Skills to help prospective job applicants by training them first. (FREEMAN)
