Increase of honorarium of barangay officials hailed

CEBU, Philippines - Consolacion town Councilor Iluminado Alin has expressed delight about the steps being taken by some senators and congressmen to increase the honorarium of barangay officials, especially tanods.

Alin, chairman of the committee on public order and safety, told The FREEMAN that barangay officials, epecially the barangay tanods, are the vanguard of defense.

“Angayan gayud kaayo nga hatagan sa mas dako nga honorarium ang mga opisyal sa barangay ilabi na gayud sa mga tanods,” Alin said.

Alin said he wants barangay tanods to undergo proper training in handling evidence and also in responding to crimes.

Alin, a former police officer, said that due to lack of policemen assigned in Consolacion town there is a need to strengthen the services of barangay tanods. (FREEMAN)
