Boy, 16, shot dead; two other juveniles wounded in attack

CEBU, Philippines - A 16-year-old boy was killed while two other juveniles were wounded when two masked youths attacked them at sitio Dumpsite, barangay Mactan, Lapu-Lapu City yesterday morning.

Lapu-Lapu police investigators identified the fatality as one Arman Denson, 16, a resident of sitio Dumpsite, barangay Mactan.

Wounded were Peter Iyas and John Wendel Cania, 8.

Crime Against Persons Desk officer PO2 Winston Ybanez said Arman and Peter were playing computer games at an internet café owned by Lourdes Inot Carilla, 56.

The 8-year-old was sleeping with his mother at a shack near the café.

A 15 years-old witness said that while they were playing computer games, two unidentified persons whose faces were covered suddenly appeared near the door, and without any provocation shot Denso, who was playing computer games, several times.

Pejana said he ran outside the computer café and one of the suspects shot him but missed.

Iyas who was also playing computer games at the internet café was hit by a stray bullet on the right arm.

The 8-year-old who was sleeping at the shack was hit on the left leg.

ERUF medics took the wounded to hospital.

Police investigators are inviting witnesses to shed light on the shooting. – (FREEMAN)
